fartlek is actually sweedish for "speed play", so it would generally be used for working on speed or power.

well yeah. it's a method for running (as i understand/do it anyways) whereby you change speeds between random points in your run. so maybe inbetween 'tree a' and 'tree b' you run all out and then from 'tree b' to 'recycling bin c' you go at a light jog.

and you also have to change terrian, so go up hills and down hills, thats how it differs from interval training.

Oh thanks for that, where would I be without you telling me what's what in the fitness industry?

As most people aren't bothered about training for 'speed/power', and are more bothered about weight loss, then they're usually used for more random outdoor activites, as Fan rightly stated!

Fartlek is used more for sport specific activities.

Had my BUPA Health check again yesterday, and apparently I have lost 4% body fat in a month

Amazing what 3 weeks of the sauce can do.

    Well done, mate, nicely done!

No booze makes a huge difference! Keep it up!

How's the training going? Has your PT changed your program?

I been off the gym for a week (not good) but went back yesterday and will be back there Monday. Program still pretty much the same, but do a fair bit of HIIT now too.

Although I question the reliability of these readers to be honest.

Lost 4lbs since Friday, guess that's a good start.

Anyone who hasn't been to the new gym on woodside I'd highly recommend it, the facilities are excellent and it won't hit you too hard in the wallet either.
