Just seen on the BBC that Beckham is looking to train with a English club whilst it is the MLS close season. It says that he would more likely be looking for a club near to his Hertfordshire base, maybe training with us would be an option. The only benefit this would give us is him adding on his vast experience to the younger players of the squad and also an extra bit of publicity which is never a bad thing, although thinking about it that could unsettle the squad a bit. Any thoughts?
Couple of photos of him running about in a Watford shirt and a guest appearance in a friendly? I'd have that and the increased sponsorship money it would bring in.
Spot on. Imagine the damning effect someone of his work rate, passing and set piece ability could have on the rest of the team. We've worked hard over the past 18 months on ****ing around with free kicks just outside the area and we've already got Johnson trying his best to belittle the others efforts. Why would we want someone like Beckham teaching the team bad habits?
Cut the sarcasm. Did you not read the comments by Cesc Fabregas when Thierry Henry left. Half the reason Arsenal struggled last season is because a young Arsenal side were in awe of the superstar Frenchman. I dont want some big wig coming to the club and making all the players feel inferioir, even if it was just for training. If you want to argue my opinion, go ahead, but dont be a d1ck about it.
Ok, I think you're wrong. Aside from the fact that your previous post didn't make an opinion only that you hope he stays away, I also don't agree with your example at Arsenal. Fabregas and Henry both agreed that he had too much influence over the team and controlled the dressing room whereas having Beckham train with the squad would be different. He'd hardly play (if at all) anywhere he went as no team would want to be responsible for the insurance costs to Galaxy if he got a serious injury. It's a pointless argument anyway as he won't be coming here.
As the arsenal training ground is next to ours he might aswell train with them. Thats even if he is coming over to england.
Yes definitely The bloke is a model professional and would give so many of our youngsters something to look up to. Imagine what this would do for both our current set of academy players and us as a club wanting to bring young players in. The likes of Harry Forrester may have seen the club in a different light. He has technical ability, professionalism as well as being Influential as well as having played for arguably the two biggest clubs in the world and captained his country for a record number of games. It would be stupid not to have someone of his stature around the training ground.
99% certain, he will train with Arsenal as that is now England's base for training when they stay in St Albans. If England had qualified for the UEFA champinships, we might have seen him here on loan but it is not worth if it if we do not qualify. I take it, he still has the place up at Sawbridgeworth as well locally to travel close by. Personally, if I was Aidey, I would jump over the fence and get him in the talk to the youngsters in the academy on how to look after yourselves physically and media presentaton skills, lef alone his skills from set pieces.
no don't want him here and don't think aidy would either to be honest, he chose to move to america, his fokin problem
Don't forget that Aidy had Les Ferdinand about to help him do his coaching badges but also to help the youngsters, not to mention Matt Jackson as back up but as a role model for the youngsters. I can't see any benifit for Arsenal if he trains with them. Are the players going to look up to him in the same way ? Most are a couple of yards quicker than him anyway. You never know if he still lives in Sawbridgeworth then Cheshunt or Hoddeston may be able to fit him in on a tuesday night
I am undecided. I wouldn't want the media attention as he would take all the glory and that could have a negative effect on our lads. On the other hand - say what you will about Becks but he is very professional and our young players could learn SO much from him about how to carry themselves in the media. I don't want our season risked by the distraction that Becks would be so I say no.
talking of beckham wen david beckham scores i drink becks, wen paul schcoles scores i drink skol wen tommy miller scores i drink miller thank f*ck david seamen was a goalie
He could train with anyone in NW London, not to far from Hertfordshire. Why would he train with a Championship side?
Why wouldn't he? he's not loooking for a transfer, or a loan deal, just the oppertunity to train and stay fit, why not choose a championship team that is local to him?
My feeling is it doesn't matter so much who he trains with, but he does care about how easy and secure the facility is for him. As you know, he brings a massive entourage of press wherever he goes. Controlling the crowd and not being a distraction are probably first priority for him as he trains.
As long as he doesn't bring that pouting overated talentless stick insect with him. It is bad enough at QPR these days with that Ferrari prat and his hanger ons without the Vic being a celeb hang out for wan@@rs who know nothing about the game. No, No, No and No.:rant:
England stay at The Grove, which i believe is still in Watford not St Albans ps i was working there for a few days on a corporate gig whilst they were staying there
It wont be us and that is a fact! And I dont care about the Elton John connection! That reminds me... can someone dig up that thread a while ago where some plebs actually convinced themselves that Beckham was going to sign for watford as a favour to elton john!?
OK cheers, I know that they used to stay at Sopwell House, but they do train in St Albans (London Colney) at Arsenal's training ground I believe.
Galaxy 'OK' with loan out of Beckham for his fitness, at least Beck's says so Actually, Andrea Canales, the writer of the article, is about the only journalist covering the Galaxy that is worth a damn. She's kind of cute in a bookish sort of way, too.
I doubt he will be allowed to actually play for anyone, I imagine he will just train with someone. I know its been said before, but it could be us? I reckon it would not be a bad thing, especially for our youngsters to have Becks around the place. However, Arsenal are only next door with better facilities, so if he stays at "Beckingham Palace" it would more likely to be them than us, seeing as their training ground would be just as convenient. You never know though!!!
Agree, only a training gig, not a playing gig. After Beck's injury prone season with the G's, I'm sure they'd put a hit out on his Simon Fuller if he played anywhere else.
From the Daily Mail website.............................. The screamer ... It's the talk of football Is Beckham set for winter in Watford? Last updated at 22:03pm on 7th November 2007 David Beckham will return to England next month if Steve McClaren's side make it to the Euro 2008 finals. His club, LA Galaxy, have given him permission to train with an English team — possibly Watford — in December and January to keep up his fitness. He will not be allowed to play club football. Beckham, who will be included in McClaren's squad for next Friday's friendly with Austria and the final qualifier against Croatia, has set his heart on winning his 100th cap in a friendly next February. Beckham has assured McClaren that he is over the injury problems that ruled him out of the qualifiers against Russia and Israel last month, but he will wait until England's fate is known before committing himself to returning. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/li...all.html?in_article_id=492358&in_page_id=1779 Obviously it's a big IF
!! Have you seen the picture they posted on the Mail of Beckham in an 'action shot'? The other guy can't be too pleased about being caught in this position... :]]
It's Jesse Marsch. He is a c*nt playing for the c*ntiest of c*nt teams. This was an interesting play though. It would be weird, in a good way, for me, perhaps the planet's only Galaxy/Watford fan, if he did train at Watford.
Speaking of arrested development, Beckham is playing in a friendly at this moment in Vancouver British Columbia against the Vancouver White Caps. It's nil all in the 7th minute.
