According to today's "Sunday Mirror" Ben Foster said that he will probably have to go out on loan for a couple of months after his injury, just to blow the cobwebs away, if he is to get past Kuszcak and challenge Van de Sar.

I am a big BF fan, but on this occasion I would not be interested in Ben coming to us.

That is unless there was a chance of making the deal Permanent, then I would be willing to break the bank to get him!!!

It's been discussed in the thread about what players to get in Jan. I agree with you completely - I'd love Ben back BUT ONLY permanently - no more loan.

Great player but we need to be working towards a permanent premiership quality keeper.
    • Not sure how long the Poominater has left in him
    • Lee may get there but needs to be played
    • we need to look at getting someone in
Fozzy whilst a great player, is not our solution unless we secure a permanent deal. I've got a feeling if any other clubs get a sniff that it's possible, he'll be out of our price range.

Would love him back but I cant see it happening. We have Poom and Lee so no need for another keeper unless either gets long term injury.

Only want him if we can buy him outright and this would only be possible if we reached the prem again.

Loan him until the end of the season with the option to buy if we're promoted.

Ben is gone, and why would he want to drop a division even if he does go out on loan? England keeper now remember. Get over it, he wont be back.

Can't believe people on here wouldn't have him back!

    Talk about short memories!!!

I'd definatley have Ben back here, in any capacity, whether it be loan or permanent!!

He's ten times better than both Poom and Lee put together!!

I'd definitely take him back even if it was only a loan to the end of the season. Anything that can improve our chances of promotion is worth doing.

I don't think anyone is saying they wouldn't want him back permanently, what most people (including me) think is that a couple of months loan would be completely pointless.

It would take away minutes from OUR players who will be here longer than 3 months.

Long term developing Lee or buying another keeper permanently is by far the better option.

Well you were one that didn't want him back and Sexybadger was the other.

Lee will NEVER be anything more than number 2 at this club.

I don't think it would be completley pointless because I can see both Poom and Lee costing us goals this season (Lee was at fault for the Scunthorpe goal last week).

Well by my count there is Me, Sexybadger, VOR, Krisvad, Hornmeister,To pints and The Vic that wouldn't want him unless it was permanent.

Goal against Lee was offside anyway.

I've heard blame for that being put on Mahon, Willo, Johnson and now Lee. Having see the goal a few times there was naught Lee could have done. And as Potguy states - it was off side.

Buying Ben Foster is NEVER going to happen as I fully expect him to take over from Robinson before very long.

However a loan till the end of the season would suit just fine and could be all we need to go back up.

He's a brilliant keeper, don't get me wrong but we don't need him at the moment and it would be unfair on Poom and Lee. Of course I would have him permantly but no way would have him back on loan.

Agree with Bubble, why should we stand for a couple of "capable" keepers when Foster is an exceptional keeper twice the player of both Poom and Lee.

Absolutely right but a short term loan will only be a quick fix and will be detrimental to our long term development.

I'd be happy if Aidy spent all of the money left from the Boozer/Ash transfers on making it permanent but it's not gonna happen.

either way if we go up we'll need a new keper so why not have a short term fix until the end of the season.

im sure everyone on here would happily take him back, regardless of what they have said.

he was an excellent keeper for the two years we had him, maybe making 3 mistakes in two years.

    bring Ben back.

we are top of the league without Bozo - he's out injured and ucked if i want to pay to see him rehabilitate at watford.

if it aint broke don't fix it.

Bozo did his time here, thanks , good luck.

One final note - if he becomes Englands no 1 , we got no ucking chance of winning anything ever. If Bozo is the next best up and coming goalie, we ae in deep shyte. I have a suspision though that he is actually Scottish.

Every pizda and his brother are calling for us to stop the hoof ball and play some footie - brilliant ucking plan - get bozo back.

    Master tactics - NOT!!!!

£6 million for bozo - falls around laughing, ribs hurting with laughter pains, gasping for breathe from choking on the constant laughter.

Sorry Paddy I have to disagree, except for the first bit about him rehabilitating here, I don't think we should take him on a short term loan.

However, if there was the possibility of a permanent deal, I would take him like a shot!!!

A lot of you are saying we would have no chance of getting him permanently, but if we make "The Premiership" I think we have as good, if not a better chance, of getting him as any other team!!!

That is as long as we were prepared to pay him top notch wages, which I for one would be prepared to do!!!

The lack of common sense from some is unbelievable.

Why would a potential future keeper sign for Watford on a permanent deal? If he gets his fitness back (and that could be anywhere) and manure decide to sell (unlikely) then there will be a whole host of far more attractive options than us.

Thankfully people with a business brain and some academic skills make decisions over budgetary matters for the long term viability of the club as opposed to fans who have no business sense whatsoever and let their emotions run away with them.

We are still not a wealthy club - not yet anyway - and to blow your war chest and salary scheme for Bozo would be wrong.

I also think that it is very naive to think that Manure would let him go. Foster is indulging in player talk aimed at telling Sir Alex that he is keen and wants the number one birth. Van de Saar has hardly any years left at the top level and Foster is part of their future.

I am not a big Poom fan but he is good enough with Rich Lee for this season. Let's see where we are come next May and there will be a lot of choice of decent keepers if we go up.

Our money would be better spent looking for another LB, central midfielder or centre half.

if we were to take him back on loan my fear would be he would be very rusty and cost us a few goals and games.

as much as i rate him and think he will be future england no 1 i am not sure a short term loan will be to our benefit.
