Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd says he will be prepared to let Hameur Bouazza leave Vicarage Road for 'big money'.

The French striker has been linked with moves to Aston Villa and Fulham after impressing for The Hornets last season.

Boothroyd has conceded the club would be prepared to do a deal, but that they will only accept a sizeable fee for his services.

"If anyone wants to sign Bouazza they will have to pay big money, simple as that," stated Boothroyd.

"He's a quality player and I'm not prepared to let our best players leave for nothing."

Meanwhile, Boothroyd is looking to strengthen every area of his squad after watching his side secure a 3-0 win over Boreham Wood.

The Hornets coasted home on Saturday, but Boothroyd is not yet happy with his numbers after missing out on a number of targets.

"We missed out on two players this week so we continue to look," he told the club's official website.

"It's not just a striker that I'm looking for, I'm looking to improve all over the park because you need a strong squad ahead of a grueling season.

"Last season we fell way short of our targets, so we have to improve this year to get back up there and any new players will know what our expectations are."

Boothroyd said i won't sell the crown jewels.

Boothroyd now says everyone has a price.

2010 vision my ar$e (unless the vision is to be in Rio with Simpson & Ashton)

bouazza is an arrogant **** who thinks he better than he is, as soon as we can get a good replacement in for him we should sell, sadly i don't rate our chances of us lining up a replacement.

Probably thought making daft comments like that were very unrealistic and well as you say how will such 'ambitions' be reache by selling your top young players unless they really really want to go.

No. We were after the muff last season even when boozer was a nobody.

Muff was not even intended to replace Ash but that is what I would judge him to be.

I had hoped Hammer and Macanuff would play wide thus keeping Noddy in the stands.

Isn't this just a rehash though? When Aidy said he wouldn't sell Bouazza two weeks ago he qualified that a bid would have to be huge to make them think again.

This isn't news and could apply equally to Cristiano Ronaldo if £150m was on the table.

Our inability to sign anyone with a pulse suggests to me that I'll still be doing Hameur with a rubbish allo' allo' style accent for a while yet.

    Correct.

I was surprised they bothered putting this story on their site tbh, they already have a near identical one written just over a week ago.

I can't see any clubs stumping up the money to make us sell Bouazza tbh.

I must agree with both Jobr and KingJames!

Why say one thing to excite the fans and then let them down with sales of good players!?

I know no one has gone yet, but it's only a matter of time! I can see some activity over the next 10 days with players going!

One good season with Bouazza and he is now the crown jules...Macanuff was wanted 2 seasons ago but palace refused to sell and IMO Nacanuff is better than Bouazza, and as Ive said before 2/3mill and sell the overated french player, who done jack all the previous 2 seasons.

Why are you all so sure that Aidy really thinks Bouazza is that good?
"Crown Jewels" & all that tosh is just to push the price up & up for ANY of our half-decent players that anyone wants to bid for.

I agree with that to an extent, we didn't rely on Bouazza 2 years ago, in fact for a time it looked like he'd be going to Swindon for near nothing (just me who thought that?) even last season he blew hot and cold...However he has proven himself to be a very good player and he a very important piece and I doubt (at the current time) we can sign someone as good as him (those as good are already at equal size clubs to us etc).

However as with Ash he is slightly over-rated and will command a fee higher than he is probably really worth - but that doesn't mean we should sell him. Young, attacking players with skill are hard to find, we need a total of 4 wingers at the moment we only have 3 imo (we've already lost Chambers and Macca will probably be off). Even if he wants to leave he has a contract until 2010(?), if Aidy and the club have any guts they will force him to stay until Jan min, no point in being a rich club with no players

so we keep him while he is poo, and then just as he starts to blosom as a talented skilful playe, realising the promise that we suspected he had, everyone is clamouring to sell him.
As I said in another post whats the point in having £5mill and being a player down ?we already have the Ashley Young £9mill and can't spend that!

I agree Phil. No point having £5,000,000 in the bank kicking it's heels while we're a player down...a good player down aswell! Same goes for Shittu aswell!

If we keep our squad in tact we will be up there challenging for automatic promotion IMO! Simple as that!

Tell both Bouazza and Shittu they ain't going nowhere! They're under contract and tough sh*t. When we get promoted next season they'll be glad they stayed! I can only see Shittu and Bouazza ending up at micky mouse Premiership clubs anyway fighting relegation again!!!

Boozer is the most inconsistent player on our team full stop. I don't even think he is Premiership standard for Wigan or Brum.

Fact is, Prem clubs have more money than sense atm, so they go about putting silly money to any player that seems to have any modicum of talent.

If we let Boozer go it will be a joke. He would be going to a club to be a squad player kicking his heels on the bench until he is shipped off down the leagues again. as has been said, there is no point having loads of money but no ****ing ambition!
