Whilst I am optimistic for the new season (like every other supporter) there are two games from last season that are bothering me .... Ipswich and Plymouth. Both teams outplayed us and should have won and I still can't quite put my finger on why we seemed to lose our way against CCC sides when we coped reasonably well in the Prem. To say that they raised their game against a team from a higher league is fair comment but then our players should have reacted accordingly .... and they didn't.
I saw that as a positive - played average and still won, defemded well enough by not concedeing. There are games like that even in the league ( brighton, millwall home two seasons ago and we lost them). Thake that we are unlikely to play that way for 46 games we should be hitting 4 or 5 past a few teams along the way. No fear, w are going up as champions. Bonus with winning the carling cup as well. simlar to our last season in the CCC we started off well and never ropped out of the top 6 play-offs will be the lowest we will finish i thin the games against plymouth and ipswich will be different we will ttack, as its not so high an expectation as last time and hopefully the team will have more confidence to go and attack
I would say 4th or 5th before Christmas, then with injuries out the way we can kick on after christmas and get qutomatic promotion.
We were very lucky against Plymouth, i should know as i was in the home end and the fockers were up and down what seemed to be every few minutes with a scoring chance! Ipswich i stayed in the pub and drank copius amounts of Lowenbrauw in The One Crown but was told Ipswich looked a good side. So much hype for next season, we will finish 9th . . . i would like to be proved wrong!
That's what the previous records would say, In a way I think your right but I'd like to stay postitive and hope we could push for a good position. Play-Offs by Christmas is all well and good, but look at Derby, they were first at Christmas and ended up having to take the Play-Off route, so I would hope we could bag as many points as possible early on.
I agree with Watford_Away. Obviously I want us to go up. But everyone will want to beat us, Watford never do that well when expected to win. However if we get of to a winning start I will be confident, we need early confidence or we are fooked.
