I have heard Gav has turned down a move to Leeds United, We accepted a 300K bid for him, Gav turned down the deal because the deal didnt even give him half of what he earns at Watford, Leeds will make a new bid and will offer him the same deal here with a two year extention to what he has left on his deal here,
Could mean the end of Gav

We accepted £300k? Hahahaha. Don't believe it for a second. However much some don't rate him, Aidy certainly does. In the current transfer market a player of his experience is worth much more than that.

Could be true. I never understood why Aidy extended Gav's contract from 2008 to 2009 last summer. Perhaps he's now having second thoughts about it.

With our current situation, though, I wouldn't want him to leave. That would be putting a lot of responsibility on Bang Bang's shoulders, as he is pretty much the only other defensive midfielder we have.

Could also mean that Aidy is planning to sign a new midfielder during the summer ...

Williams is defensive. Obviously he is injured, but he shall return eventually.

Gav is worth more than 300k. I would pitch him more at 700k.

suspect it is a crap rumour, where did you hear it? Aidy obviously likes gav, he had a great first half of the season last year and actually looked in place in the premiership for a while, and as manager its up to aidy to get the best out of his players. Also there is the fact hes a good leader and we don't seem to have any others now that malky stopped playing.

On the other hand, maybe aidy wants a fresh start, and also i here mahon (along with king) has a clause in his contract which means he will always be the joint top paid player in the club, a stupid wage structure which has probably held us back on some new signings, perhaps that contract king signed recently got rid of that clause.

Personally i think mahons days as captain may be numbered but his playing days with us aren't over yet.

I suspect that if Mahon still had his long flowing locks then he would be much more of a fans favourite.

Keep Mahon, watch him do well next season.

He wouldn't drop down 2 divisions anyway.

Although i don't think gavs up to the job, we're not going to sell our captain who now has premiership experience for a measley 300k.

Don't know why some think Mahon will do well in the championship next season. In my opinion, he didn't last time and we got promoted despite of him not because of him.

I hope he does go - I hate him!
Besides the fact that he is a very average midfielder he was also the grumpiest most non fan friendly player at the sponsors dinner last year so I say screw him! (The most fan friendly was Richard Lee btw!)

Maybe he reads theses boards. He must hear the stick he's had for the past three seasons, even Ray Lewington used to comment on it.

But I think he's one of the best tacklers I've seen. Ever.

    Really?????
I rate him below Craig Ramage as a tackler.

My source is from a scout at the club called Mick and the deal is still on, He will sign tomorrow and will be made official by the end of the week at the latest.

Why not? We sold Robinson to Brom for a similar measley sum, and he had prem experience and had captained our team!

Yet we pay £500k for krappa!

Totally different circumstances. It was said at the time that that £300k was the difference between us being solvent or entering administration.

I'm not sure if you were watching the same person when we got promoted, but nearly every game he would be charging about the pitch with some amazing tackles. Granted he is not the best midfielder ever, but he is a captain who is no nonsense has got his team to the Premiership and to 3 semi finals.

That has to look good on your CV.

I think people are far to quick to use the period after Christmas when he was abysmal as the benchmark for his whole time here.

300k was probably their first bid... he'll go for nearer £1mil, maybe it involves a player coming the other way?

I don't think we'll get £1,000,000 or anywhere near that tbh KJ.

I don't think he's worth anymore than 400k. I can see why Aidy has allegedly accepted 300k for a player out of contract next summer! He's also 30ish.

Would be interesting to see if a player from Leeds came the other way...the only one i'd take would be Healy, but I can see him going to Fulham anyway.

I saw a bit of training this morning and Gavin Mahon was not out there with the rest of the squad. So is he injured, on hols, or offski?

Clarke, Marlon, Doris, Tamas and Jordan were all present and in good spirits.

They are soon. Apparently Captain Birdseye has upped his offer to the creditors to avoid HM Customs & Revenue appealing the vote. Once the appeal window has elapsed the Football League should ratify everything and allow them to buy players again.

Didn't see him either come to think of it. Hameur, Rinaldi, Tommy, Doyley, Macanuff, etc all getting involved. Malky and Alec looking on as coaches. Aidy took training, well the little I saw....

There are public footpaths that criss cross the training ground at London Colney. AFC have massive fences to prevent unofficial scouting next door, WFC don't.
Ramblers and doggy walkers (like me on occasions) can pass by no worries.
