Pub Guide Any infomation you have for pubs regarding forthcoming games home OR away then please post on this thread. Thanks.
West Ham Just To Repeat, West Ham. The Hamilton Hall At Liverpool Street Station. Duke Of Edinburgh Upton Park Station Queens Pub Next To The Market, And Upton Park Station.
Pre game and post game activities are very different here due to the predominance of the automobile as the primary mode of transpo. We mostly go to the parking lot hours before and sit there whilst BBQing and drinking beer until game time. When the game wraps up, we continue again back at the lot until the driver sobers up and then depart. So different... What are the pubs & places most likely to be visited by Hornets fans on the way to or from games at the Vic? What are the places like? Atmosphere? Clientele? Rabidness of Watford support? What's the favorite? Maybe if I can get my ass to London someday I'll make a visit to them all... From the banter here & at the official late lamented boards, I know of a: Red Lion... Moons...
not easy mate. the normal away fan pubs for a league game, will be for this match, man u pubs. so i would try the pubs, and club behind the holte end, or drink one train stop before the ground, or the city centre. all pubs will charge to get in, even the villa home pubs.
I dont think ive ever actually thought about a pub in this way before. A pub has always just been a pub to me. Its quite hard to describe if youve never been as it is well different to those american bars.
waking away from the holte end towards the motorway bridge go under that and keep going towards the big block of flats pub opposite
Vicarage road. Pubs for away fans. Please sticky this. Macs Bar, the nearest pub to the ground for away fans.5 mins walk http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/16/16341/Macs_Bar/Watford Moon Under Water, a weatherspoons pub http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/16/1615/Moon_Under_Water/Watford this link will cover the other pubs, and bars near the ground. http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/results.shtml?l=watford PLEASE NOTE, AS WITH ALL OTHER GROUNDS, SOME PUBS ARE FOR HOME, OR AWAY FANS ONLY, AND THIS SITE DOES NOT ALWAYS MAKE THIS CLEAR. THIS RULE, MAY ALSO CHANGE IN WATFORD AFTER THE GAME, FOR HIGH PROFILE MATCHES, OR ON POLICE ADVICE. IT IS MEANT AS A GUIDE ONLY
we found a little sports centre with an upstairs bar Stella £1.89 quite far from the ground but cheap
burnley away If anybody whose going to Burnley on Saturday wants a pre match pint (and lunch) go in the Cricket Club (now the official away fans pub at Burnley) - which now has 3 bars open on match days. Its right next to the football ground and has a large car park. A number of the pubs around Turf Moor and in the town centre and not safe for away fans (Burnley still has a hollie mob) so stick to the Cricket Club bars and you will be ok.
This thread hasn't seen much action, I think it should be renamed Ben Watson. Anyway, where do Hornets go for a pint on Saturday at West Brom?
The Old Joint Stock in Brum is my chice as they serve Fullers ESB. Last two seasons WBA away, there have been a few of us Horns in there.
Or perhaps we should start using it again. A pub guide should not be outdated, unless any of the said pubs have changed in some way, or closed for some reason.
Yes, that as well, unless you don't mind a long walk. I use The Moon In The Square when we play at Bournemouth. I love it but the drawback is the 30min. walk to the ground. I know Bournemouth have not moved, just referring to the walk. I use the Wetherspoons Potters Wheel in Swansea, that's a decent walk also.
No, let's start using again, before all away games, this could be a very useful thread, and is under used. Problem is that we tend to talk about pubs under the match thread, which is alright for the given match. The advantage of this thread is that you could have all the pub details to hand.
