Had a punt but not sure about overall performace, Guess we'll have to wait for the atendees to return, but I hope he made a good show of it.
He played ok, but as we know he isn't very tall. He didn't win many headers although he did show a few nice touches and passess. We missed Mahon a lot, but I though Francis had a reasonable game. Maybe trying Bangura and Mahon together at Newtcastle might be a interesting idea?
maybe that would be a bit too defensive, springs form has been poor, but i think he deserves another chance.
To be honest the way Newtcastle are playing now it might not make much difference. I think we'll need a bit of steel in the middle to have any chance in that game and it just seems that Spring has gone off the boil since last season.
he done alright, have seen him play better, the ball was in the air a fair bit which isn't his game. for newcaslte, i would be tempted to drop smith for the returning mahan and play with ash on the right and henderson upfront on his own with francis being the attacking central midfielder
He couldn't have done more. He really tried to play passing football and kept it on the deck. I'd play him with Gav over Francis.
I thought he had a good game. Got it down and tried to play it on the deck making some good passes. I do think we missed mahon today and i have to say i wouldnt be too disheartened if francis was on the bench at Newcastle.
He may have kept the ball on the deck but some of his passing in the first half was shoddy at best. Picked up a little in the second half.
I thought Bangura had a good game. his tackling was a sgood as it has always been, and he won far more headers than he had the right to. his passing was also a welcome break from the usual style of play, and once Bouazza and young got used to how he was playing it, we started to look more dangerous. I say Mahon And Bang Bang versus the geordies.
Bangura did alright he didn't look out of place but I still don't think he's the finished article yet and the best of him is yet to come.
Of course he is no finished article, but he was by no means the weak link today which is what some might expect having to fill Gav's shoes. He played quite well, passed the ball around instead of hoofing it like against Newcastle.
