    WARNING: JOBR Free thread:) :)

What price would Richard Lee be today?

Do you think Blackburn are kicking themselves for not stumping up the £750,000? In fact they could probably have offered £500,000 and got him.

The best thing to happen to wfc wasblackburn not taking up the option.

You know my view on RL and he is probably better suited to the premiership than to the other leagues. With big Dan at the back to command the crosses with his heading ability, RL doesn't have to come for them unless he is sure to catch them, thus leaving himself on the line incase Dan loses the odd header here or there;. RL proved his agility is far greater than Bens on monday. At portsmouth Ben was unable to get up of the ground for pompeys first goal and was just flapping. RL would have been back on his feet putting pressure on Kanu.

This league needs agile keepers with the amount of shots that teams put in.

RL - is not a matter of how much we get for him but how much will it cost us to replace him.

we better not be selling him any-time soon! agree with you on him being agile but we were praising ben no-end before RL came into the team. who to play when benny is fit again???

I wasn't praising Ben unless he has a great game or made great saves. I believe everyone is wrong about Ben:) - he is no better than Rich Lee and RL is our player and not a loanee. We as a club should be developing RL and RL should be gaining th experience that Ben is getting.

I also believe we would have gained automatic promotion last season with RL in goal.

Will Ben break his jaw for the Watford cause?

don't think so. if half way true last season aidy started playing RL we would all be asking to be put Ben back in goal. come on be honest?

We normally hit the Red Lion as the kids can get in.

Ok I will go to the Red and see you there then.

Newcastle like an idiot I didn't book the cheap BA flight from Heathrow when you said about it and thus missed out on the £69 returns.

Am going 1st class from Kings X on the 9am(£70 for 1st class return) get in at 12.00, so will be to late to go to the races if you are still going? If you aren't going Racing then i will meet you in a pub around 12.15??

Ben was very poor and cost us a lot of points in the first 10games last season. Ok he kicks far and suited our play during the course of last season, but this season Bens kicking is wreckless and not working for us.

Last season had RL been in goal we would have had the extra points that would have put us close to second place and RL would have kept his place all season.

Ben is an OK decent keeper, but he was a chef three years ago and is not worth £1 million plus add ons upto £3 million, He is playing on his adrenalin and when he has a bad run, we will suffer dearly. Like most of the keepers who get built up as the next england number 1 he will lose confidence.

Anyway, Alex fungusface picks our goalie for us, that is the one of my main reason I want rich lee to play, Fungusface doesn't know thta RL is better than Ben and is only interested in Manure and gaining experience for his own player. AT WHO'S EXPENSE ?

Richard Lee will play for England before Ben does:)

    U ornssssssssssssssssssssssssss

What time you getting to heathrow Berko, dougie said he may meet up in Paddington and get the heathrow express rather than parking at the airpor. Maybe you could pick him up at a mutually convenient place. I think he wants to have a few beers but not drive back on the return to heathrow.

I am thinking of getting a lift to LHR as well and a cab back in the evening.

If I drive to LHR it means that I can not have a beer after the game and I will be wanting to celebrate a well earned point.

RL was not good enough last season in my book.. and I was of the same opinion as Jobr on his usefulness until this season.
He has totally changed my mind on his abilities this year and though I agree he should be given more experience than he has been getting we have to protect our long standing good rapore with manure and leaving ben on the bench would do nothing to help that and could end up costing us dear.

Nothing he hasn't been through before! I remember (well vaguely) a one-day cricket international against SA at the Oval. Took us 90 minutes to get to Euston and about 6 buses.

Richard Lee has been outstanding, would even go as far as saying that he is giving Bouazza and Stewart a run for most improved player this season!!

We would have kicked ourselves if we would have flogged him for half a million squid and then he produced this sort of form!!!

Going to be a great keeper... and he is OURS!!!

  25. Berkohorn

    Berkohorn Reservist

Totally agree LBH. He is deffo most improved player.

A bargain at £500k. To replace him would be £1 mn plus if not £2mn. So his value to us has to be at that level.

  26. PaddingtonsYellowArmy

    PaddingtonsYellowArmy First Team Captain

He was good enough at the start of Ray Lewingtons last season, when we were on fire and he kept 5 clean sheets in the first 8 games.

He is far braver than Ben. I accept we have some sort of relationship with manure, but the cost is to us not to them.

I support WATFORD FC not man utd acadamy/reserves.

If we buy their players and they are contracted to wfc then fine, but loanees should be for three months or so to cover own squad injuries and suspensions but unfortunately finances play a big part and the big clubs dictate to the small clubs 24/7.

    Jobbie,

You have remained remarkably calm on this thread despite a lot of provocation.;)

  30. wfchornet2

    wfchornet2 The Prodigal mod

I fully agree with what you say however the fact of the matter is that no matter what we need to have Ben in the side if nothing more than to give us a decent back up, that said we also need to keep SAF sweet by playing him.
We dont want to end up like Rangers and get in his bad books by not playing him, have him recalled, lose RL to injury and be completely screwed!
Therefore I feel that Aidy has no real option than to give Ben the match time to protect any possible future loan deals with Manure, of which there have been plenty over the last few years, and some very good ones at that.

Story of my message Board life, lots of provocation :)

Colin, my views of a certain R Lee are well documented.

However nothing can the fact that the guy was outstanding on Monday night.

I still believe Ben is a far superior "goalkeeper" to Richard, but Richard is a far better "shop stopper". Had Ben been in goal Monday night I believe we would have LOST. I can't believe I have wrote that and am away for a lie down.

I don't agree... He was solid against Man utd
He was outstanding against Newcastle in the cup... could have been 3 down at half time.. Was solid against Sheffield, some great saves...And say no more about Manchester City!!!

He flapped once or twice at Portsmouth and twice at Man City.. (the back pass from Shittu was Danny's fault and the other flap was followed up by an exceptional save off the line!!

He has been great everytime he has played and is getting better with each match....

  34. PaddingtonsYellowArmy

Man of the match in Denmark and hasn't done too much wrong in the games he has played. Saved two penalties v Accy to help us through.

His mistakes this season are like for like with Bens, very comparable performances. I feel RL would have kept Kanu out at Portsmouth nad the game would have been very different with us leading at half time.

TBH - I am very happy with either keeper in goal, they are both very decent to very good keepers, but RL is ours and BF is not.
