My I think is gonna be the best, shares in watford last year for christmas, anyone else had any really good football related presents?
In the 1987/88 season I didn't finish work on a saturday till lunch time and by the time I got home and changed and got to the ground it was a lock out and the only way in was to buy a ticket off a tout. It was costing me a fortune so my mum offered to buy me a season ticket (they had a few left for the old Kemlyn Rd stand), it cost her £220, an absolute fortune for her(single parent) and I've had it ever since. Thanks Mum.
That should read, its not like I am ever going to be able to sell them as they are worthless. Ho hum, what about a rights issue to devalue them further.
Showing my age but my mum bought we a full Watford strip, it was the FA cup final special one, when I was a nipper. Probably worth a fortune now
Cool Hornmeister, when I was still with the man who introduced me to watford, we used to buy each other a shirt for xmas and pay to go to away games for each others birthdays, we were students then so it meant a lot! Although not as good as the shares;D
This season was the first season John Barnes was at the club, when we bought him I wasn't that convinced. I'd only seen him for England and barring the goal against Brazil he hadn't really impressed me but he turned out to be one of the players the club has ever had, he was the main player in what many LFC fans consider to be the best LFC team ever. Going unbeaten for the first 29 league games of the season, a record shared with the great Leeds side of the early seventies. Happy Days.
Nope think it went in one of the srping cleaning sprees. I grew out of it after about a year so didn't get to wear it much. The badge had started to peel off amyway.
For my 13th Birthday I got my first Watford shirt for Christmas. That's been my only really good football present. Although for my 21st, my girlfriend bought me tickets to see San Francisco 49ers at home to the San Diego Chargers when we were in America over the summer which was great! (American Football)
At the time my favourite present was the 1991/1992 centinary shirt. Looking back at it now it's terrible! But I think when I was young I was attracted to the bright colours! I've still got it tucked away somewhere I think.
For Christmas 1995 my wife gave me a present of two tickets to see a Euro 96 game. The game my father in law and I ended up seeing was Croatia v Denmark at Hillsborough. The Croatian fans made a complete racket throughout the game and ended up stuffing Denmark 3-0. If anyone remembers it was the game when Davor Suker beat Schmeichel with a lovely lob at the end of the game...Hilarious! It was such a brilliant day out and one I will never forget.
