You should have a recovery CD from your PC supplier just pop it in and select the repair or reinstall option. Be warned, it may mean lots and lots of Windows update downloads as you'll go back to your original version. If in doubt, may be worth taking down to the Monkeys at PC world to pop some new ram in for you and give it a healthcheck.
Unlikely but possible if you Arsenal it up. If you've got irreplaceable stuff then you should really consider a backup anyway.
If you're not confident, don't do it. It takes we a couple of days to fully spring clean my computer and i've probably built 15-20 from scratch. Mine does have a lot hanging off it though. Much as I hate to reccomend them Poo wee world do offer a reasonable service and a guarantee.
so what the finally verdict? either plug it out and bring it to dixons or pc world and get 'em to put in new ram and give it a healthcheck OR buy the ram myself and hope that it is the ram that is putting the strain on my graphics card and that more ram will fix the grahics and i can crack on and play footy man 07? i want admins, hornmeisters and wfchornet2's opinion on what i should do thanks a million.......again
Go for the ram but make sure you've got space first. If you get it mail order it'll be cheaper than PC world and if it doesn't help you can still take it to them.
I'd echo what Hornmeister said, RAM. It's the cheapest option to begin with and most likely to succeed.
Try this: http://www.ehow.com/how_895_install-ram.html Just check thatat your motherboard has a similar slot empty.
I agree... open her up and look on the board and see if you have a spare slot and if you have go for it... like i said its very easy to install and you can never have too much RAM
