With Ben turning in superb games regularly, how long is it before he gets his first cap for England? Is Kirkland ahead of him? Witha friendly against Holland coming up, it would be an ideal time to maybe bring him on at half time?
no way is kirkland ahead of him. mcclaren should take a chance and give him 90mins in a friendly. it would do his confidence wonders!
I'd love to see Big Ben play for England, but after SAF has decided he doesn't need him and he signs for us at the end of the season.
Foster is now the England No 2 for this game as Kirkland has withdrawn from the squad as his missus is having a baby, so Foster may get a game
all he needs is a start in goal and get a full game in to show maclaren what he has and i think it wont belong before he gets the number 2 slot regular.. kirkland isnt all that its just foster isnt as well known as kirkland.. when maclaren really sees whats what with him things will change.. and i still punt him to be the number one within 2 or 3 years.
If we are honest saying "its the least he deserves" is a little biased but he did deserve a look see... but given the end result of the game im not particularly suprised he wasnt brought into it.. if we had been 2 or 3 up then maybe it would have been different.. maclaren didnt want to take a chance even if it was only a friendly, and to be fair after the results of late who can blame him.
I feel if foster was on we wouldn't of conceded that goal as foster would of come out for it, all the pundits were saying that if robinson had come out for the ball the outcome would of been different, instead he stood there and watched and dived for the ball after the ball had passed him.
True, i completely agree with you on that, but it doesnt change the fact that maclaren would have been looking at staying with what he knows for sure rather than, as he would see it, taking a risk on a keeper who has not played at the highest level when we only had the 1 goal cushion. We all know how he plays week in week out, unfortunately maclaren doesnt see what we see regularly, yet he knows that Robinson is a fine keeper, Maclaren could have had no way of knowing how their goal would come and what a fundamental error his apparent best keeper would make.
I do agree with you. When I was watching the match I was thinking that once we get the second goal he will bring on Foster.
Will be great when he gets his 1st cap, thought he might have came on in the Holland game as it was only a friendly but o well he didnt... it will come soon.
I reckon the only chance he will get is either an England B, or against poor opposition in a friendly at the moment.
Think Robinson is too solid at the moment. Only a couple of slip ups or an injury will change the pecking order. Think he has staked his claim as the number 3 if not 2 now rather than just a squad reserve like he was at the world cup.
