As the transfer window is closed this section is gonna be a bit sparse for a while but thought I would christen it with the follwing.

There are a few rumours going around about plans for development at the stadium. The last two applications for improved disabled access in the Rouse Stand and better press facilities can be found here:

    http://www.ukplanning.com/ukp/findC...address=Vicarage Road&appType=planning folder

It's likely any future submissions for redevlopment of the East stand will show up here first.

There are rumours on the official board that the Red Lion pub has been purchased by the club.

Edit: Moved to the new Vicarage Road area, good thread to start off.

As far as I am aware that is not a rumour, the red lion has been purchased by the club.
as far as redevelopment goes it is rumoured that ground sharing might be put in place while developements are implimented.. i dont think this will happen as the main project is obviously the east stand and as you stated better wheel chair access to the rouse... the rouse situation is likely to take place in close season not requiring any ground sharing and there would be no reason to ground share while the work is done rebuilding the east stand, though it might make access to the ground a little problematic at times it wouldnt stop people being able to use the other 3 stands!

I would hope that groundsharing will not be required.
Changes to the Rouse are likely to be corporate, hospitality press & new changing rooms. Then the east stand can be replaced.

If we did groundshare where would it be?
    MK Dons?

WFC MB's said it cud be QPR

I would prefer it to be MK Dons new stadium to ground share or even the existing if need be as it would be easier for all the fans to get to.

Going to QPR would be a nightmare to get to.

Cant see it being a groundshare with MK Dons. their stadium is only 8,800. There will be a lot of dissapointed Orns out there if we do share with them. Looks like QPR is the most likely although i think the work will probably be done in the summer and we wont have to move anyway

Loftus road would be my choice.. jump on a 207 and im there in half hour.. lol
MK dons as said in a previous string is far too small.
But i would say its not likely to happen.

Agree it's very unlikely. I've not seen it mentioned anywhere apart from the club boards.

ooo just got this through from Mark Ashton

    Dear Supporter

I'm sure you will have been enjoying Aidy's weekly email addressing a whole host of football issues and keeping you up to date with everything going on around the team here at Vicarage Road.
Since we got promoted in May, it's no understatement to say that it's been a very busy time off the pitch. We've all been working extremely hard behind the scenes to make sure both the stadium and club infrastructure are ready for the Premier League. Believe me, it's been no easy task!

We are moving forwards in a number of areas off the pitch as well as on it and, in order to do this, we have to make decisions that affect the business and, at times, affect you, the fans.

In order to be able to make sure that you are as aware as possible about what's going on at Vicarage Road and to explain the decision making process, I've decided to drop you a regular monthly email to serve as a behind-the-scenes guide to what's going on at the club. It'll hit your inbox on the last Monday of the month.

Over the forthcoming months, I'll be discussing issues like ticketing, membership, access issues around the stadium, the purchase of the Red Lion pub and the long-awaited announcement regarding the stadium redevelopment programme.

This is a perfect time for us to be starting these emails to you, the fans, as I'm delighted to tell you that this Thursday (28 September) we will be holding a press conference at the football club to announce our plans for the stadium redevelopment scheme.

I know that many of you will have been wondering why this project has taken so long to announce. On Thursday, I hope it will become clear why we've been unable to talk about it in the public domain and why the project is so important to the future of the football club.

Following Thursday's announcement, we will be communicating with you in more depth about the project and the impact that we believe it will have on the future of Watford FC.

In addition to my emails, you may also receive messages in a similar format from time to time from our chairman. Graham will be giving you information on major issues concerning the club while I'll be concentrating on the day-to-day operations of the club and how we move forward.

The quality of our communications is absolutely vital to us. I am aware that, at times, we have made decisions which you, the supporters, may have looked at with curiosity. The purpose of these emails is to give you as much information as we possibly can to clarify the thinking behind certain decisions.

Although we will not be able to give you all the detail all the time, we are certainly looking to offer an improved service of communication directly to you.

    Best Wishes

Could probably knock down the two ends and we'd still be OK for capacity.

Just checked up on the planning site to see if they sneaked anything past us using Occupation road as a street name, but know. Sigh, guess we will have to wait untill Turdsday.

i am thinking that it is only going to be a case of refurbshing the old stadium, not building a new one. Unless they have managed to find a sponsor to build it for us on a shirt sponsorship, hoardings & % of gate receipts sorta deal.
Question is more likely, what we are to do in the interim while the work is undertaken, will we still go to vicarage road and work around it or groundshare? I have heard however from a friend who's uncle works at QPR that there is no talk there of us sharing with them, not to say it isnt happening, but if it is its a closely guarded secret there as much as here.

My guess (and you can quote me on this come thursday)is..........

New corporate stuff, changing rooms & offices over on the Rouse side, renovations to the Rouse.
Demolition of the east stand and rebuilind to a similar design to Vicarage rd.

They'll put boards up infornt of the east stand and draw pictures of crowds on it. There will not be a need to move, but they'll be no east stand next season

    Good link,

Wouldnt supprise me but before the east stand goes they need to move all of the offices and changing rooms etc ot the Rouse. I think that will be the first stage.

The new east stand on this plan does really look good though.

I would think that stage 2 might be to fill in the corners after a couple of years if the extra capacity is required.

First thing we should do is get a decent scoreboard though. I'm able to count goals but it's nice to know how long there is left.

I think we're all on the right lines here. East stand must go, and next summer will probably see alterations to the Rouse to allow directors and players the facilities they need while the east stand is rebuilt through the 07/08 season. Look at all the wasted capacity in every corner. Sort those out and I bet we could get 25000 in the ground easy. Even thought the ground isn't being filled for the Aston Villa type games, continues success will definately see crowds rise. We need the extra capacity and something to bring in more money.

    Agrred, can't wait for Thursday.

First thing they need to do in the corners is get rid of that prefab hospitality suite, just about everyone i know that supports other teams that come to our ground think its a joke, and i have to say i find it an eyesore myself

You're right, it's awful. At least the TV cameras don't usually see it.

Hope they're gonna put some new turnstiles in not only is there not enough but a big bloke got stuck in front of me las ttime I went. Probably eaten to many pizza pocket things.

    wfchornet2 The Prodigal mod

I agree with that... i took my, then, 6 year old son to his first game and he got his hand caught in the turnstile, it didnt cause any harm and it released easily but it wasnt a nice thing for him to experience on his first ever trip to the hallowed ground

  32. Defunct

    Defunct First Team

Agree with the turnstile comments. They are so thin, must be a reason for it?

    No Fatties

Seriously probably made as small as possible to get as many in as possible (we still need more) or to ensure taht you don't get a group rush.

Now if we were really clued up, the new stand could have a tube type Oystercard entry. That would be cool and allow us to spend as much time as possible in the pub beforehand :p

  34. wfchornet2

    wfchornet2 The Prodigal mod

that would make sense, if you are a season ticket holder to get an electronic smart card you can scan and enter, save a lot of time and man power.
